Frequently Asked Questions

We provide an engineered metal building product which is designed to meet the required loading per the Building Code. Typically you will receive 3 sets of Engineered Sealed Erection drawings. Sealed Design Calculations can be required by your permit office. These drawings show how the building is to be erected and we also include an Erection Manual and other guides based on building options chosen. Excluded from the order is the following but not limited to: Concrete, Masonry, Anchor Bolts, Storefront Doors, Storefront Windows, Louvers, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Stairs, Handrails, Burglar Bars, Wire Mesh, Kick Plates, Corner Guards, Unloading, or Labor; unless noted otherwise on this contract.

Approval in form of a permit is typically required, but not always. For example, some locations that are outside city limits, do not require a permit. To be certain, check with your local building department to verify codes and loads and check if a building permit is needed before purchasing any building.

A foundation plan may not be required by your local code officials but we recommend it to reduce the chance of future foundation issues. A licensed foundation engineer will design the foundation based on your local soil condition. Then a competent concrete supply company can use our anchor bolt setting plan and the foundation design. You must check with your local officials to see what is required. For rigid frame buildings a foundation design is required to determine anchor bolt length into the concrete.

Insurance regulations prevent the driver from assisting in unloading. You will be responsible for the unloading of the building, and you will need lifting equipment. Additionally, we recommend that you have a total of at least three people to assist you.

Pro Tip! Watch for any material which may have been damaged during the loading or drive.

Report any visible damages to the driver and to Box Metal Buildings in writing.

This is also the best time to take inventory to ensure that all material on the delivery list is there.
